DepEd, Embassy of Spain, and Fundacion Mapfre Initiates Turnover of Road Safety Teaching Aids for Public Elementary Schools in PH

PRESS RELEASE

DepEd, Embassy of Spain, and Fundacion Mapfre Initiates Turnover of Road Safety Teaching Aids for Public Elementary Schools in PH

Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Luis Antonio Calvo, with DepEd Undersecretary of Programs and Projects Dina Ocampo, and Mapfre Insular president and CEO, Javier Warleta, initiated the turnover of Road Safety Teaching Aids for public elementary schools in the country, between Fundacion Mapfre and the Department of Education (DepEd).

The materials were given to improve the teaching-learning process in schools so that students may be aware of how to safely navigate Philippine roads, particularly the busy streets of the metro.

Soft copies of the program’s materials will be stored in the DepEd Portal to provide easier access for the teachers.

Ultimately, the goal is to reach out to 47,000 schools nationwide—both in the elementary and secondary levels. On top of raising awareness among the youth, DepEd, Mapfre, and the Spanish Embassy would like to extend road safety consciousness to adults as well, since they are the members of society who use the roads more often. DepEd recognizes that changes will come faster if adults lead by example. As a start, teachers must be able to learn from the program and share it with their students and families.

The Spanish Ministry of Education and Embassy have worked closely with DepEd on special programs, and are thus very supportive of the project. The collaborators would like to emphasize safety as a way of life. They believe that values and health education are as important as traffic and car safety principles.

Fundacion Mapfre, the corporate social responsibility arm of MAPFRE S.A., a leading Spanish insurance multinational company, operating in the Philippines through Mapfre Insular, has been working with the Department of Education since 2011, developing modules in two learning areas: Araling Panlipunan and Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao. Since then, road safety has been taught in at least two thousand schools nationwide. Beginning this March 2015, teaching aids will be distributed and used in schools.

Sweets from AnnSweet

Here's another food review. Desserts overload again, whoohoo! Who doesn't love desserts? Me and my kid loves cakes and cookies. Bakers now try to innovate and make cupcakes, cookies and cakes more presentable and adding more ways to attract us sweet lovers to buy their products.

An ordinary cake became cakepops. Very attractive and this little cakes will make you bite not just one. First, I love the packaging. First bite, you can really taste the chocolate and the cake itself is moist, which I like the most. My kid liked it. Kids don't lie! :)

These cookies are to die for! 6 cookies are not enough for me and my kid. We want more! Cookiecups with mallows and Hersheys Chocolate, two thumbs up!

Thank you AnnSweet for these yummy cakepops and cookiecups. 1 dozen cookiecups is for 300 php and 1 dozen cakepops is for 350 php. Very affordable and very presenatable. This is a great way to surprise your lovedones for their birthdays and any special occasions.

Pasta and Pizza day in Gottis's Rristorante- Mall of Asia

Few of my blogger friends and I went to Mall of Asia to watch Night at the Museum but before we head to the cinema, our tummy get hungry and found this small restaurant. It's beside Burger King so you won't miss this. There's so much Italian Restaurant can be found in Mall of Asia and Gotti's is just an OK resto for me.

We had Seafood Pizza (355 php). Served with generous amount of seafood such as squid, shrimp and mussels. Topped with capers, olives, fresh tomato and cheese. This pizza is worth a try. I will definitely order this pizza ones I get back to Gotti's.

I had Pasta Puttanescca with fresh tomatoes and olives. First bite, I could really taste an Italian Pasta. Tangy and can really taste the olive oil and olives on it. Filipino Pasta version is on the sweet taste which kids loved it however I liked the sour/tangy pasta.

Savory Dish and Sweets Overload in Orange Whisk - BF Aguirre

I will never get tired making reviews for restaurants, cafes and even hole-in-the-walls small restos in the metro. And one thing I am very happy is that, there's so much newly opened restaurants and cafes in BF Aguirre Paranaque, which by the way, only 15 minutes away from my house. If coming from Southville, Orange Whisk is after Larcys and Tous, infront of G Spot Restobar. It looks like a small bakeshop, but don't be fooled because they have lots of tables inside.

Orange Whisk in BF Aguirre is their second branch. First branch is in Betterliving Paranaque. BF Aguirre's branch just recently opened a few months ago. The restaurant/cafe is called Orange whisk is because one of the owner is a Pastry Chef and her favorite color happens to be Orange and "whisk" is a baking tool.

Aside from breads and pastries, they also offer full meal course. Starting from Appetizers, Salads to main course (Filipino dishes) and they also serve pasta.

I love this coffee buns. Best paired with lattes. The coffee glazed on top is heavenly, for a coffee lover like me.

Two salads for that day. Kani Tempura Salad with mixed greens and balsamic vinaigrette.

The second salad is the classic Caesar Salad. With mixed greens topped with croutons and Parmesan cheese. Both I liked.

My kid will surely love this Garlic and Cheese Chicken. Enough balance of saltiness and cheesy flavor.

A very popular Filipino dish, Kar-kare with Bagnet. Sorry to say because I did not try to have a bite of this. I don't eat Kare-kare. However, I asked some of the bloggers who ate this and they said it's good.

A popular Bicolano dish, Laing. They had a twist with this dish, they incorporate the Ilokano popular food, Bagnet, this is topped with Bagnet. This Laing is way different to the typical Laing that my mom always cook. My mom is a Bicolana and she is good in cooking Laing, however their version is different because you can't see any trace of "Gabi Leaves". I still like the taste though. It's just different to the typical Bicolano version of Laing.

The Garlic Portabella and Bacon Parmesan Cream Sauce pasta is heavenly. One of the best pasta I ever tasted. You can really taste the freshly chopped basil and olive oil and they use good quality bacon. Not too overpowering the taste of basil.

This Seared Waygu Saikoro Steak with reduced Dark Blue Ginger Sauce is delightful. First bite of the beef wagyu, it just melts in your mouth. I will definitely go back here in Orange Whisk and order this Beef Wagyu. Worth it for the price of 700 pesos.

Wagyu Burger Steak. I like everything in this dish, the meat, the sauce and the overall taste.

My first time to taste Braised Ox Tongued. This is infused with Basil and mushroom with reduced cream sauce and truffle garlic oil. The idea of eating a tongue grossed me but then, I still give it a try and taste coz everyone is saying that it's good. And surprisingly I liked it, however, I did not have a second bite. One is enough though, lol.

Time for deserts.

These yummy eclairs has become one of my faves deserts now. Different varieties to choose from. These eclairs is best served cold. kids will surely like this.

Red Velvet Cake.

Oreo Cheesecake.

Classic Cheesecake.

Choco Fudge Cake.

Everything is delightful. From Savory dishes to their signatures pastries and deserts. Thanks Orange Whisk and Zomato Ph.
