Authentic Chinese cuisine: Mandarin Palace Seafood and Shabu-Shabu Restaurant

The reason why I love living in the south is that we have an extensive array of good restaurants. And one of these is Mandarin Palace. Found in the stretch of BF Homes Aguirre. Open from Monday to Sunday 10:00 am till 12 midnight.  They offer authentic Chinese cuisines and mouthwatering dimsums, they also have private dining rooms for groups or  have a dinner date with your partner.

For starters, we had Prawn Hakaw. Now, this is a great way to start the meal. I mean, it should be the soup though but in Mandarin, they offered us their best dim sum. (4 pcs for 128 php)

Shrimp Siomai (4 pcs for 88 pesos). The best seafood dim sum I ever tasted so far.

Fish Lips with Mixed Soup (300 for small, 450 medium and 600 php for large serving). Yup! It's made from fish lips. And surprisingly it tastes good!

Fried Squid with Salted Egg, a must try here at Mandarin Palace. You can really taste the salted egg yet it doesn't overpower the taste of the squid.

Deep fried Seafood Roll (500 php for large serving). What I like about this, it's not greasy/oily (because it's deep fried). I only had a bite of this because it has mayonnaise inside and I don't eat any food with mayonnaise.

Salt and Pepper Spareribs (600 php for large serving). Don't be fooled with the chilies on top of it. It just gives a little kick of spice (just a little). I like the tenderness of the pork and enough balance of saltiness. I love pepper on any dish so this is one of my fave here.

Seafood Roll with Almond, another must-try dish. Some of my friends liked without the almond but me, I want lots of Almond.

Peking Duck (900 pesos, I hope my memory serves me right).

Wrapped Peking Duck Skin. After chopping the duck they made sure that all parts of it will be eaten just like the skin.

Minced Peking Duck with Lettuce and Hoisin Sauce. Sauteed Peking Duck that will be eaten by wrapping in a lettuce with this sweet sauce.

King Fish in Mango Sauce. I was a bit hesitant trying this, because I rarely eat King Fish and this one is good. Thanks to it's sweet Mango sauce.

Chicken Curry. Very mild curry taste and this is a great way to introduce a curry dish to kids, and I guarantee they will like this. (forgot the price of it)

Yang Chow Fried Rice (200 for small, 300 medium and 400 for large serving). Very generous serving with lots of shrimp.

Mandarin Palace also offers exotic food such as Frog Legs. This wasn't on our list of food to order, but because a friend mine, Nicole asked the manager and offered us to try their deep fried frog legs. Not all of us in our group is their first time to try this Filipino exotic dish but we all didn't miss the chance of tasting one or two legs of this tiny frog. Taste? Just like chicken wings. And I loved it, I had 3 legs actually, lol.

Mango Sago for desert. A Filipino desert and I love the sweetness of mango. I suggest to have a little more sago as I am a big fan of of it, lol.

After almost 2.5 hours eating all these succulent and flavorful dish, I honestly don't know how am I able to survive all these foods. Very generous servings. Thanks Mandarin Palace for a tummy-full of happiness.

  1. I've had food from Chinese restaurants in New York but I'm sure they can't compare. As for exotic foods such as frog legs, I'm not sure I'll have the courage to give it a try.

  3. Would you believe that I have not dined at Mandarin Palace? It's near my place though and I'd always see it when I'm doing errands in the area. The place seems to be packed all the time - I see the cars parked outside. I don't recall a time when there weren't any cars, lol. The food at Mandarin Palace must be really good.

  6. Frog legs are a favorite of mine. The rest are typical Chinese restaurant fare, but I am sure they gave it their own special twist and identity.
