Why do I Blog?

Why do I Blog?

Many has been asking me, Why do I Blog? I always answer them "because I love to write". A lot has been asking me what do I get from being a Blogger? The answer is/are: I get VIP invites for an opening of an establishment, gets to know first about the new trend in our country before it goes out in the market and of course, you get to have and try these products for free. Yes! For FREE! Many of you would say "Ah, I can buy those things! Or I can go and eat at that restaurant by paying!". Sure, you can pay, and by the way, I also have money to pay where I want to eat or stay in a hotel! But being invited and you get to try first what's in store for that establishment is different.

Food Intolerance Test by: Healthway Medical Press Release

Food Intolerance Test by: Healthway Medical Press Release

What is FIT?

99% of Filipinos suffer from food intolerance
Healthway Medical introduces FIT, a test to detect food intolerance

Reactions to certain foods are quite common.  However, some reactions go unnoticed until certain abnormal manifestations occur – internally (physiological) or externally (physical, i.e. on skin).Where food ALLERGY has almost an immediate reaction, food INTOLERANCE, on the other hand, does not immediately manifest. Sometimes, it takes as much several months or as short as days for symptoms to be obvious.

According to Nutrition and Lifestyle Counselor Ginny Sinense-Marksl, RND, food intolerance often occurs in people who eat normal or even very common food substance (rice, egg, dairy, wheat) that they are highly sensitive to. These foods cause inflammations in their body that could manifest as allergy-like reactions such as diarrhea, bloating, stomach cramps and at times, skin rashes that almost never seem to subside. Also, it could be one of the major reasons why it is difficult to manage any weight problem.

Food intolerance may involve some or all the same symptoms as food allergies. “While food allergies are acute reactions to a particular food substance and can cause life-threatening symptoms, food intolerance is chronic and less severe but, nevertheless aggravating to optimum health,” said Marksl.

A number of reactions surface when a person is found to be intolerant on a specific food item. However, some people could still eat small amounts of food they are “intolerant” to without any immediate physiological or physical reaction.

Though minimum to no immediate reaction occurs, chronic exposure to a food substance a person is intolerant to can be potentially hazardous to health due to constant presence of inflammation in the body as Marksl further explained.

Food Intolerance is a type III food item that occurs when the body produces Immunoglobulin (IgG) as a reaction to allergenic food. Immunoglobulin are a class of proteins that function as antibodies produced by the immune system in response to foreign bodies that enter the body. Various studies reveal that if food with high IgG levels are eliminated from the diet, symptoms can be reduced.

“Not knowing where you’re intolerant to could lead to chronic diseases such as abdominal bloating and fluid retention, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, migraine, and asthma,” said Carmie De Leon, vice president for sales and marketing of Healthway Medical. “This makes a Food Intolerance Test all the more important.”

Healthway Medical, the most trusted and preferred mall-based clinics in the Philippines, recommends every children and adult alike to undergo a Food Intolerance Test (FIT) or Food Print Test to identify which food groups are safe to eat.

FIT is the most advanced and comprehensive laboratory service that detects the presence of igG-food specific antibodies to a wide range of food people consume every day.Healthway’s FIT is inclusive of a consultation with nutritionist to guide you through the FIT service and to explain the findings of the test.

“Not having your test now can be potentially dangerous since some people have high IgG levels but do not experience the symptoms,” De Leon said. “There are others who even feel better short after they eat food at which they are intolerant to, but continuing to take these food groups may re-grow the symptoms to much worse cases. Still, once symptoms occur, it is recommended to avoid all other members of that food group unless tested negatively.”

De Leon concluded, “Early detection of food intolerance will go a long way in ensuring one’s optimum health. If you want to achieve a quality life, make sure to add sleep, right food intake, exercise, and de-stressing as part of your daily routine. When you start living a healthy life, everything else will follow.”

If you think you have the symptoms of food intolerance, visit Healthway Medical Clinics at the Alabang Town Center, Edsa Shangri-la, Market! Market!, Festival Mall, Healthway Manila, SM The Block and Greenbelt 5.

Food Feast in Wai Ying Dimsum

Food Feast in Wai Ying Dimsum

Whenever I'll be invited in a food review for a Chinese Restaurant, I get excited with anticipation that I will be having a full meal and I'll be going home tummy-full.

Wai Ying Dimsum is a fast food branch of Wai Ying Restaurant that caters mostly students from nearby universities such as De Lasalle Taft, St. Benilde and St. Scholastica. Their prices are affordable and they are open from 7 in the morning till late night. Located at EGI Tower Taft, Manila.

As I said, I am expecting to be full tummy this afternoon and look what we all had that afternoon.

Molo soup for starters.

Yangchow fried rice (single serving), but for me, it's good for 2 person to share.

Chicken in Taosi. I have low sodium taste buds so for me, it's a little salty however, for my bloggers friends, they said it was just enough saltiness. This is very common for Chinese Restaurant here in Manila.

My fave, Lemon Chicken. It's crispy on the outside and very flavorful on the inside. Me and my fellow bloggers all loved their version of Lemon Chicken.

Sweet and Sour Pork. Pork is tender yet my only issue is, the sauce. It's really sour! No sweet at all, however, I already told it to the owner and hopefully when I come back, the sauce wouldn't be that sour and I will be able to taste sweetness.

My second favorite, Creamy Chicken. Fried Chicken fillet poured with creamy sauce. The creamy sauce is thick and creamy, has enough balance of saltiness on it.

Chinese Food Feast will not be complete without DIMSUM. My fave of all DIMSUM is Sharksfin.

Pork & Shrimp Siomai. Generous amount of pork and shrimp and no extender. One bite, you can really taste they mixed good amount of shrimp.

Egg Roll, there's meat and a little mayonnaise inside. And by the way, it's sweet because they mixed it with pineapple.

Japanese Dimsum, I wasn't able to taste it but the group said, it's fairly ok!

For the last dish I tasted, Beef Curry. Beef is so tender and I love that you can really smell and taste the strong curry.

Congee with Century Egg. Congee is very popular here in Asia. Us Filipinos, we eat this at breakfast and afternoon snack, oh! even midnight snack after you had 2 bucket of beers with your friends.

We all enjoyed our meal and I'm definitely be coming here very soon! Thanks Wai Ying!

I decided to have a change on my hair color because I used to have a dull and dry hair.

I chose this color (shade of red and brown) because it suits my "morena" skin and it will lighten up my face. It's been 1 month now and I still have hair color but it already lighten up (a bit). I might have another hair color soon, maybe 2-3 more months from now.

Thanks to Elgon, they reinvent my dull to shinny hair.

Fashion Finds - Great Haul

Fashion Finds - Great Haul

Being a mom makes me smarter in terms of spending money. I still splurge on some pieces I love to collect, which are bags. I may not have those extravagant price tagged bags but I make sure I will buy those fashionable yet the quality is not compromised.

One of the many places I love to shop is Paseo de Sta. Rosa, there are tons of boutiques that are always on sale and one of those is Charles and Keith.

Most bags from Charles and Keith would range around 2,000 to 4,000 php. This bag's original price is around 2,300 php yet I bought it for only 1,000  php.

This Cream and Orange bag is an inspired bag from a lavish bag line (forgot the bag line though). I bought this for only 900 php at The Penthouse in BF Aguirre. The Satchel Diva bag line can be found on Instagram and I'm so glad they now have a physical store in Paranaque.

Bracelets from Imono Jewelry. Both on sale for 50% off. Bought these two silver bracelets for less than 2,000 php.

Of course I'd like to have those expensive bags however, I would rather spend my allowance and savings on my child's education/savings. It's not everyday you'll find great stuffs on sale. Till my next shopping adventure! :)

Tuna Pasta in Basil and Tomato

Tuna Pasta in Basil and Tomato

I love pasta and cooking pasta dish is one of my forte (yes! I'm proud of that, lol). Though it was my first time to cook a Tuna Pasta, I'm glad it was successful and really delicious. Pasta is one of the quickest meal to serve for lunch or dinner.

Here are the ingredients I used in making my Tuna Pasta:

Pasta Noodles (any variand and shape) 250g.
Canned tuna (2 cans)
6-8 cloves of garlic (chopped)
1 medium white onion (chopped)
5 small-medium size tomato (diced)
Fresh Basil (chopped)
Olive oil
Salt and pepper (to taste)

Cook the pasta (as per package). Saute garlic until golden in a 2-3 tbsp of good olive oil, brown and add the onions then tomatoes. Add the 2 cans of tuna (with the oil) and cooked for 2-3 minutes just to incorporate all the flavors. Add the cooked noodles and tossed with freshly chopped basil, salt and pepper to taste. And viola! I have my own version of Tuna Pasta.

My kid wants cheese on her pasta so I just added grated quick melt cheese. This is really an easy pasta recipe. I would try other ingredients for my pasta dish, soon!

Garden Style Wedding: Church and Venue Ocular Visit

Garden Style Wedding: Church and Venue Ocular Visit

My cousin and her fiance came back from Dubai to prepare for their upcoming March 2016 wedding. I am so thrilled and excited that my cousin is getting married. I'm very close to my dear cousin and so, I volunteered to help her find the perfect place for her church and venue of her wedding. Their first choice is around Quezon City. R (the groom) is eyeing on Fernwoods as it has a beautiful chapel and garden style venue with a small lagoon inside (how cool is that?).

Fernwoods has 3 garden style venue that can accommodate from 200-300 guests. All three has its own staircase, but only 1 venue has a lagoon. All three venues are non-air-conditioned, however, it has ventilation like electric fans and exhaust fans. It's really a beautiful and picture perfect venue, however it's really hot inside. I strongly suggest to have at least a cooler or invest for an air conditioner as we are in the Philippines and during summer time we're all going to sweat all our lungs out. Not being exaggerated, but in all honesty the place is not yet packed with guests, but I feel like I'm inside an oven, it's really freaking hot!

At the lagoon there's Koi fish and swan.

Staircase in one of the venue hall in Fernwoods.

Two of the most popular photography suppliers in Manila. Nice Print and Wally Gonzales are present here at the Fernwoods food tasting.

I tried posing while at the event.  Can I be a fashion blogger now? Haha.

They have a nice chapel inside Fernwoods and it can accommodate around 150 persons. Chapel rental is 35,000 PHP. Good thing that the chapel is fully air conditioned.

There's a spot in Fernwood, where the facade and interiors are like an American home. By the looks of it, it's like you were really in an old American home.

We went to a different venue, Gazebo Royale in Visayas Avenue Quezon City. A garden venue that has 2 halls. 1 is fully air conditioned that can accommodate 150 to 200 guests and the open venue hall that can accommodate up to 250 guests, it has a staircase and a room upstairs for the bride and groom to freshen up. This is more relaxing and cooler than the ones in Fernwoods because it's open and has high ceiling.

60,000 rental fee for the air conditioned hall for 5 hours and 90,000 for the open area hall. R (the groom), my cousin and I liked more this place. It's not congested unlike in Fernwoods. Gazebo Royale open hall has better view and has proper ventilation.

We still have much to do for my cousins wedding but at least were able to narrow down their choices. Will update you more when they had their final church and venue for their wedding,

More Info:
Fernwoods and Gazabo Royale is both located in Tandang Sora Quezon City.
