ISRAEL IS NOT CHEAP: Things to Know About Jerusalem

ISRAEL IS NOT CHEAP: Things to Know About Jerusalem

Kabayans! It's Visa Free in Israel - yep! we are Visa free for 90 days. This is great news for all Filipino Catholics who would want to do pilgrimage or just want to travel and see the ancient city Jerusalem. But let me tell you this, ISRAEL IS NOT CHEAP! For me, it's an expensive city to travel and stay for a week. I am a Budgetarian Mommy so traveling here needs a month of saving at least for my pocket money.

Hotel Review: Belmont Hotel Manila

Hotel Review: Belmont Hotel Manila

Belmont Hotel celebrated their 1st anniversary in the hotel business last October 2016. Belmont Hotel is a 4-star hotel situated across the Ninoy Aquino Internation Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA3) The hotel is perfect for travelers, on business trips or layovers in Manila because of its prime location. Resorts World is just walking distance and the best place to dine, shop and even watch a movie or play with your family, friends or partner.

The hotel has its own cafe/restaurant that can accommodate guests for their buffet breakfast, a la carte lunch and monthly themed buffet dinner. Cafe Belmont offers Filipino and International Cuisine.

We had a little concern at their cafe during my 2nd night stay together with the other TBEX (Travel Bloggers Exchange) participants, it was dinner time and we ordered food but it was served after 1.5 hours of waiting, we understand that during that time the hotel and cafe are full packed but 1,5 hours is not normal and not right so some from our group went to Mcdonalds instead. We're able to talk to the manager and he apologized for what happened. So all hope this won't happen again.

Superior Twin Room costs around 4,000 PHP / 87 USD per night, good for 2 pax with buffet breakfast. The room is equipped with room key card access, toilet and bath with complete toiletries, coffee, and tea maker, bathrobe, ironing, dresser, hair blower, office desk, NDD/IDD capable telephone, slippers, bedside lamp and sitting chair perfect for having morning coffee/tea while enjoying the view of NAIA where my kid enjoyed it a lot - she even stayed at the window and just stares at the plane for several minutes.

It was my third time to stay here in Belmont and I am still wanting to go back soon! Loved their super comfy bed and cold a/c.

The pool is located on the 11th floor of the hotel with 360 degrees view of the airport area. With outdoor jacuzzi and pool surrounded by sun beds and outdoor tables and chairs perfect for a group of friends who wants to chill out, enjoy the sun and even have a beer at night till 11pm. The bar is open till 2am.

Belmont is a kid-friendly hotel which is a PLUS for me. My kid loves staying in hotels especially with a pool. As long as my kid enjoyed her staycation and wanting to go back at the hotel - then I'll give it a 4/5 rate.

Product Review on Jeunesse Pads

Product Review on Jeunesse Pads

*Updated* Since my last pregnancy back in 2012 my dysmenorrhea, migraine and leg cramps got worst. For some reason, I had hormonal imbalance for 2 years now and its sucks! Not just its tremendously painful before and during my period but having hormonal imbalance also affects my mood. Though I have never tried taking pills (ever!) to correct my hormonal imbalance, I think using the correct sanitary pads every day (panty liner) and during the period (sanitary day/night pads) will help my PMS lessen.

I tried using JEUNESSE product 2 mentrual cycle already. On my first use of their everyday liners, I instantly liked it because it feels like you're not wearing any liners at all. It's very comfortable wearing it and I personally liked their Night Pads because I easily get leaks when I use other products and because I zumba even during my period, I personally recommend to use night pads. I religiously use Jeunesse everyday liners before and after my period. On the label it says:

- Helps eliminate odor
- Help reduce feminine discomfort

The pads have special GREEN ANION strip that helps:

- Eliminates unwanted odor
- Improves blood circulation
- Fights against vaginal irritations and infections
- Reduces dysmenorrhea
- Lowers stress level and boost energy levels.

Us Filipina women, it is common to use sanitary pads unlike others use tampons. It is advisable to change pads every 3-4 hours to prevent discomfort and build up of bacteria that causes odor / foul smell below.

My tip:

- Use a cotton sanitary pads with breathable bottom
- Use super absorbent pads and leak guards
- Drink lots of water and citric juices
- Use a safe and less fragrant feminine wash
- Change pads every 3 hours
- Wash every time you pee (not just wiping off)

Do all these and your body will thank you!

Jeunesse pads are available on Mercury Drug Store, and all leading supermarket nationwide.

Budget Accommodation: BGC Panay Kain at Tulog

Budget Accommodation: BGC Panay Kain at Tulog

Back then I would only stay in a nice, clean and comfortable hotel beds because I want comfort and total relaxation. But to my surprise and since I am being a "budgetarian" traveler I started staying in a much affordable choice - A Hostel. My thinking before when I hear about the hostel is a dirty, old building however I am totally wrong. One of the newest hostel chain in the Philippines is BGC Hostel with 4 branches: Makati, Manila, Quezon City and Bulacan. Panay Kain at Tulog is operated by BGC Hostel chain and located at 23 Panay Avenue Quezon City.

Getting there via commute:

Coming from North - ride any jeepney / FX going to Pantranco Hiway Panay. Drop off infront of BGC Panay kain at Tulog Hostel.

Coming from Manila / Quiapo - ride any jeepney / FX going to Rotonda / Quezon City. Drop off to Panay Ave and turn right on the first street and you will see Panay Kain at Tulog Hostel.

Every BGC branch has its own theme. Here in Panay Kain at Tulog, the reception / lobby area is very posh, chic and modern. Any Instagram addict will surely enjoy every corner of this room, I mean, who wouldn't right? I think it's even perfect for a prenup / pre-debut pictorial.

The hostel has 8 private rooms and 7 dorm rooms. Dorm room has 76 bed and cost per bed is 450 PHP / 9.7 USD (PROMO RATE till January 2017). Regular rate is 499 PHP / 10.85 USD. Each bed has its own power socket and lamp shade with a curtain for added privacy. Dorm rate per month is only 2,800 PHP / 60.8 USD per head / per bed.

For private rooms, 4 room will share 1 dining area and 2 toilets and bath. Each room has a double bed, with air condition, linens, bedside table, clothes rack and vanity mirror. My only concern in my private room is that it doesn't have a lampshade.

Aside from its good location, clean rooms, the building also has 3 classy restaurants at the ground floor. 3 restaurant that offers Filipino cuisine, international cuisine and a cafe selling breads and pastries.

With its prime location, hostel room rate is so cheap. Inside and outside the building is Instagram-worthy.

Newest Hostel in Manila: BGC Hostel

Newest Hostel in Manila: BGC Hostel

One of the newest hostels here in downtown Manila is BGC Hostel. They have 2 other branches, one in Quezon City and in Makati. Backpackers choice of accommodation now especially the "budgetarian" travelers most preferred to stay in a hostel. Hostel in the Philippines can cost around from 300 to 500PHP / 6.50 USD to 11 USD and 3,000 PHP / 65.21 USD monthly dorm rate / per bed rate, less expensive and most hostels now offer comfortable beds, clean sheets of bed linen, towel, clean bathroom and attractive ambiance.

BGC Hostel Manila is different from their Makati branch - design and color of the interiors to give each branch a different vibe. Here in Manila, their theme is Sailor where ship and anchor are visible here.

Located at Vicente Cruz along Espana Blvd, Manila City.

Via Jeepney Commute:

Coming from Quezon City - Ride Jeepney with the signage "Taft", fare is 25 PHP / .54 USD
Coming from Manila Taft - Ride Jeepney with the signage "Welcome Rotonda / Espana", fare is 8.00 PHP / .17 USD

Via LRT commute:

Coming from North station: Ride LRT1 fare is 15 PHP / .32 USD, drop off to Recto station, then ride a jeepney with signage "ESPANA".

common area / tv area

500 PHP per night / per person, equipped with a single bed in dorm room, shared bathroom, own socket, lampshade per bed, magnetic key card and towels.

BGC Manila has 3 rooms good for 6 pax, 1 room for 12 pax and 1 room for 8 pax. 3 rooms are on the 2nd floor and 2 are on the 3rd floor / rooftop.

Well for me the best thing to build rapport with fellow backpackers is music.

Location wise - very accessible via public vehicle/commute. The hostel is just walking distance from Puregold Grocery and SM Savemore. There are lots of restaurants and establishments around the hostel like Mang Inasal, Mercury, Mini Stop, Metrobank, Laundry Shop, Beauty Salon.

Because the hostel is nearby and just a few meters away from the main road, during rush hour, you can hear the honks of the cars but that doesn't bother me much.

SM Southmall Christmas Tree Lighting

SM Southmall Christmas Tree Lighting

One of the largest shopping mall in the country is SM. The company has been in the country since the 70's and over the years they have opened close to 100 shopping malls in the Philippines and even outside the country.

In the Philippines, Christmas is celebrated for several months. We start decorating our house and streets as early as September and SM is doing a yearly Christmas Tree Lighting over their 76 SM branch this month.

Before the Christmas Tree Lighting, few children from SOS and Child House joined us to witness and watch a short play. Everyone enjoyed and to these children Christmas is not just recieving gifts from random and charity givers but what SM encourage us to share our blessings by buying a bear worth 200 pesos and proceeds goes to these two charity - SOS and Child House.

As many people say "Sharing is caring". A simple way to bring smile and future to these children is buying SM bear and many will benefit from the proceeds.
